There is a Gremlin in my Civic
Ever see that Bugs Bunny cartoon where the Gremlin is on the airplane taking all the screw out? Well that might as well have been my car!
On my way too lunch, I jump in the car crank some music and start speeding out of the parking deck. When I brake at the turns I hear this funny scraping clunking sound. Sounds like the time my rotor came loose before. Sure enough I pull into a space and the front passenger side rotor is loose. One of the bolts has come unthreaded, but it didnt fall out. Its just sitting in the sleeve on the hub.
Now I was a bit late this morning and drove pretty quick w/ lots of braking. I heard no clunking sounds whatsoever. The bolt seems to have backed out all on its own while it was sitting.
This kind of freaks me out. Whats going to fall off next? I remember going through with my manual and torqueing every bolt on the suspension last time I was down there. I think this weekend Im going to redo the whole thing with loctite.

I dont think so. I am looking at this bolt sitting on my desk and it is pissing me off though!
Has this ever happened to someone else? I could understand if I just used a common socket and tightened really well, but I torqued the bolt to spec.

The bolt that actually goes into the caliper. Into the thing with the rubber sleeve that you pack with grease.

you are missing a locking washer.
it looks like a thick washer that is cut and a little bent. thats why it always comes off.

I was unaware that any of the supsension bolts used lock washers
Guess I will get one before I put it back on. Good thing my dad works in this building.

Re: There is a Gremlin in my Civic (White Lightnin)
Local guy came and helped me out. Fixed it in less than ten minutes. I am so lucky the bolt stuck and didn't come out.
Thanks again Eugene.

Looked in the helms and there are no lock washers required. I am going to take it apart and put it back togeher with loctite some time this week.
