Default Is there any way to tell if you need new valve guides on a head?

I have two GSR heads and I am curious if there's any way to check heads that aren't on running engines to see if they're good to go?

Or does someone know offhand about what they paid to get new guides installed? The shops are closed right now and I'm usually at work or busy during the day when they're open.

If I remember I was quoted 150 for complete valve train install.

Was this complete assembly, or just putting guides and springs in? That's not a terrible price, just curious as I can do everything but the guides.
