does anyone run a test pipe instead of a cat. My cat rubs over speed bumps and I know if I only had in the straight pipe it would clear.. Also doesnt it give 1 or 2hp? i know.. whoopeee !! and yes its leagle to not have a cat where i live.

I'm running with a test pipe. Way too loud. Way too raspy(> 5 grand). But at the time of the swap, that's all we had. Got the hi-flo cat now, needs to go in very soon.

I'm running a test pipe on mine. Definately helps with boost but I would not recommend for all motor. Your car will probably get real loud and raspy. I actually did a research paper on the effects of automobile pollution on the environment and it wasn't good. I guess that should have altered my decision to run a test pipe, but it didn't.

does the cat on stock 92 dx headers count as a cat???? because im thinking of switching over to that header for smog i never had a cat on my piping?

I run a test pipe on an all motor car with a full catback. Its not raspy at all and i like the way it sounds and performs. Test pipes rock.

I have a '99 Hatch with a JDM B18C. The headers bolt up directly to the stock piping. I don't feel like spending more money at the shop for a cat and welding. My exhaust is hooked to the stock muffler, So its pretty damn quiet, just a little smelly.

That's exactly what I said when I first did my swap. Now, a year or so later, Ican't stand it. It gets louder everyday.

All motor you will notice less of a difference. I gained 7whp on a 65 shot from going from stock cat to a $20 test pipe. I doubt that kind of gain would be realized from a $300 high flow cat.

I'm willing to bet the gains are even more now with a 75 shot.

i have a test pipe, not too raspy but pretty damn loud! im thinking of going over to a high flow cat soon as i gave my stock cat away.
