TDC question....did a search but couldn't find a thing!!!
I did search through recent topics and archives but couldnt find a thing....but anyways I am going to do a leakdown test on an ITR motor that I found. I know how to get TDC on cylinder 1 with the white mark on the pulley, but how do you know when cylinder 2, 3, and 4 is TDC? I know you can shine a light in the cylinder to see when the piston is up but it can either be compression or exhaust and compression is what i'm looking for. TIA!!

Check the position of the distributor rotor for whether you are on compression or exhaust. for instance, take the #1 cylinder to TDC and look at the distributor rotor. If it is in position to spark the plug for cylinder #1, then you are on the compression stroke. After getting to compression TDC for #1, just follow the pattern around for the other cylinders.
Edit:
You may already know this, but firing order is 1-3-4-2
Set it to compression TDC on #1. Then rotate 180 degrees for TDC on #3, then another 180 for TDC #4, then another 180 for TDC #2

Every time the ''up'' label on the cam gear changes a quarter turn, it is a new piston at tdc.
''up'' on top = 1 piston tdc
''up'' on the left = 3 piston tdc
''up'' at bottom = 4 piston tdc
''up'' at right = 2 piston tdc
Like he said 180 turn on the crank each time will do it. This according to Helms manual 180 turn at the crank = 90 at the cam gear.
