Default B17A Compression

I searched, and I can't find this info to save my life.

My 92 GS-R tested 195 accross the board with 214,468 on the clock, but I need to know if that's low, or if it's still in the good.

Thanks in advance!

8:1-8.5:1 compression: 150-170 psi per cylinder
8.5:1~9.5:1 compression: 170-210 psi per cylinder
9.5:1~11:1 compression: 210-275 psi per cylinder
11:1+ compression: 250+ per cylinder (highly depends on cams being used)

Right off of www.evans-tuning.com's website. These are the numbers you want to be in.

I'd be very very happy to test my b17 and find those numbers. You have nothing to worry about.

yeah especially with that mileage, 195 across is good to go.

You want the numbers to be consistant, so thats a good sign. Those aren't bad numbers at all for a 15+ year old motor.

It's not so much the actual numbers, but the consistency of the numbers. Unless maybe they're all below 140 or something LOL. Then either you did the testing wrong or something is fatally wrong with the engine.

just for comparison, my lower mileage b18a with stock 9.2:1 CR just tested at 175-170-170-180 and runs great.

your b17 only has a 0.4:1 higher CR

Well, I finally found some actual numbers, and they state that the motor is supposed to be at 185psi, with a variation of no more than 28psi, and no lower than 134psi.

I'm deffinately happy with 195!

Thanks for the help, guys!

b17's are 9.7.1 so those are pretty good numbers
