TDC headaches!!...help!
ok...i know how to set the TDC at the crank but TDC at the head is whats confusing me....ok the "UP" is suppose to be right on top of the head like in a 90 degree angle...and the 2 lines on the side of the gear are suppose to be aligned with the head?....i was looking at the manual and it said there is a third line where you align it on the cam gear cover...where is this third line on the gear???...i only see 2 lines....and where is this arrow on the timing belt cover?...can someone better explain this to me...

Re: TDC headaches!!...help! (95 EJ)
it's funny how nobody can help on something so simple like this...sorry for not being here...
That little mark on the t-belt cover(when facing cam gear) is between 7 and 8 o clock. It's going to be a little raised triangle. There should also be a little mark on the cam gear(won't be a big arrow like the head marks). If you line up the other marks with head at the same time #1 and 3 pistons are at TDC, then you'll be able to tell if it's off or not. If you were off a tooth, it would be quite obivous. Hopefully that helps, there's not much to say. Also, pull of the dist cap, and the rotor should be pointing at the #1 cylinder terminal
