Tach Question for a 1996 Honda Civic DX 5 speed
Last week i bought a 1996 Honda Civic DX 5 Speed. Now i thought that all manual should have a rpm reading on the dash but mines do not. All i have is the Temp, Speed and Fuel. I dont have a tach. Why is that?
And since now i have to buy 1, who makes the best 1 for my car and what is there homepage. I really need to know because i hate to miss shift in my car.

ya know, thats the funny thing about cars.. i see more often then not auto cars having a tach and not manual. anywho.. what you should do is keep an eye out for an ex cluster.. it combines the temp and fuel in one and where the temp gauge was is now a tach. this looks the best because it's stock imo
but even w/o a tach you shouldn't really be 'misshifting' just listen to the engine, you should know when to shift.
but if you are doing drag or something, then you should get a tach asap
but then again you did say you bought a DX last week.. and i'm assuming you didn't have time to do a swap and/or turbo for you to even consider dragging
so yeah, keep an eye out for an ex cluster

I want these but I need to have 1 that has the rpm reading i i may just have to buy 1 but i rather have it on there. I dont know why it's not on there either but you said an ex will work on my car with everything working like it should after i install it?

Except of course your mileage will be wrong.

Re: (mjrage)
I have a dx and I can drive just fine without the tach, just look at your speedometer and find out what speed you are going when you shift into the next gear like when I am getting on it I shift at 30, 60, and 3rd goes to 90, if you are just cruising you can just shift at 20, 30 40 and 60. It is not that hard but I am gonna be swapping my engine here shortly and have decided to get a tach from ebay.
