Icon2 swapping out my D16y7 for a D16y8

OK , I need to know.

The current y7 in my car is blown. If i direct swap for a y8, will the vtec work or will extra mods have to be done. Shop said it is direct bolt into my car, and vtec will work with no check engine lights or problems. Are they correct?

easiest way would be to use the whole y8 harness with the complete y8 swap. maybe a ecu for the head.

They said my ECU is the same one that comes with the y8,so if the engine comes with the harness everything will check out fine?

they said it comes wit the vtec selinoid and im pretty sure the wire harness ill call him back and ask him if the ecu is included if not how much to add because no sense to add vtec engine if the vtec isn't going to work that's like putting a celica engine in a supra i need a p2p or p28 ecu correct?

The solenoid isn't an option on a VTEC engine. Why are you asking like it is?

Go to another shop because this one doesn't seem to know what it's talking about.

Let me rephrase. It isn't optional. It comes on the Y8 STANDARD.

So why do you keep saying "make sure it comes with the solenoid"? It's attached to the head from the factory. Do you know what the VTEC solenoid looks like? Make sure the block is stamped D16Y8.
What you NEED to do is go to the guy doing the install and ask him to make you a list of what he'll need and take that to the place you're buying the engine and make sure it fulfills the list.
