Swap d16y8 engine to ZC/D16A SOHC VTEC Engine (OBD2)
So many questions. Sorry.
I need to know if this engine here: http://www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/zc-d...nly-96-00.html, is an easy swap for our d16y8 engine in our 99 civic Si.
I have been doing lots of research but the ZC engine is a mystery because it came for a couple generations of civics, (OBD1 and OBD2), in SOHC and DOHC, and with VTEC and without. Some say the OBD2 version only exists in non VTEC, others say it came both with and without VTEC. Straight answeres are hard to come by.
My main questions I need answered are:
1) will it bolt up to my D16Y8 transmission
2) will it work with my current D16Y8 ECU and wiring harness
3) any other things to lookout for
Thanks in advance.
Eric

Yeah, that engine is the equivalent of the Y8. As with all JDM engines, there may be slight differences ie lack of vacuum port for the charcoal canister purge and lack of a knock sensor. Those things are easily remedied.
