Swap B16 and boost or just boost D16? help?!
So I got this civic a few weeks back to work on to be my daily driver/weekend racer. It was already swapped with a D16Z6 from the lx original motor and seemed to be more powerful than it should have been (as well as according to the guy who sold it to me).
But here is the question (turbo is happening either way).
Should I go and boost and build my D16 or swap a B16 (build and boost as well)?
I want to run the standard T3/T4 Turbo at about 14-16 psi MAX.... with maybe at least 230whp/200wtq or so.
it has to be my daily driver still and I can't put endless amounts of money into it since i'm in college.
help and no flaming prefered.. i have done a search before and everyone just argues about which series is better in the end without helping

you will have more power output with the b series.... and a much better engine for racing if thats ever happens... you will have better bottom end torque and top end kick *** with the b. just my .02

well if i were to boost my D.. would it be possible to keep the same components (turbo, intercooler, exhaust manifold, throttle body, fuel injectors, ect..)?
and is the power altogether that much noticeable to compare?

if you run the same setup on a d as you do a b (turbo, manifold, injectors, etc...) the b will make way more horespower. a d series will usually make about 75-100 hp less if setup like a b series... at least from past experience.

How much power do you think I could be putting out on a 8-10psi boost? (that is assuming internals are left stock)

I'm not the one to say anything, but from reading and all, it seems that teh D can take up to 200-230whp safely with stock internals on a good tune.
Check out d-series.org and turbod16.com for more information. Ask them about their setups and they'll surely come up with something that'll feed your personal needs.

Re: (slacks)
on a healthy d16z6 my friend say 207 whp and 181 ft. lbs. of torque at 10 psi on a T25...stock internals with DSM 450cc injectors and a walboro 255 pump....tuned on Crome.
and by healthy i mean 127,000 miles
at 15 psi you should reach your goal on the D but would be easily attainable at 8 psi on a b16.

Before you go on about boosting things, get a compression test done first. If all is healthy and good, THEN do the green light to boost.
GLuck.

very big step for you to start swapping motors, no? perhaps you should take 4th grade spelling again, and then consider swapping a motor i heard the k20 is the easiest and cheapest motor to swap, better start looking
to the OP: since you're a poor college kid, think about what happens when something goes wrong. d series parts are a dime a dozen, b series parts aren't.
