Surging idle, please help i will paypal $3.00 for right answer
ok i did a search for this and the only thing i came up with was the tps sensor and ocasonial vacuum leak. well here it goes
i did a type-r manfold swap on my friends b16, pretty sraight forward new gaskets for the manifold and throttle body, scraped off all the old one too. both clean surfaces. used the correct torquing sequence inside to outside pattern, hooked every vacuum hose up. now when cleaning the throttle body i droped it, right on the sensor on the top of the throttle body. so i install everything and the car fires up fine seems everything is OK.
we drive the car and when the car gets to operating temp the idle begins to surge. so i pull over and turn it off, turn the ignition on and check the voltage on the tps from the VAFC. .49 closed throttle 4.95 WOT. great within specks. but the very top of the vafc it says pressure 0.000 so i turn the engine on and still 0.000 for pressure, while driving 0.000 for pressure.
is it the MAP sensor that is broken because i dropped it and thats the surging idle and 0.000 volt reading.
so if someone can check their vafc and see if there is voltage for pressure or possibly lead me to the cause of the surging idle i will paypal you $3.00

try swapping the sensor out with a buddy's. all b/d-series sensors are pretty much the same

how you just try changing or swaping the map with another one to see any difference or check the voltage on it?
i had a problem similar to that but it was just a bad ecu..
btw..i have the vtec plug cover but it not grey..it yellow.

ok, i checked on the online manuel and it says there should be voltage i think it said 5 volts something like that
but for the $3.00 reward. is the vafc reading 0.000 from the map sensor for sure, meaning does the sensor check function in the VAFC read the map sensor for its first reading
AND
does a bad map sensor cause a surging idle?
AND
can a map sensor be bad/broken and no CEL?
Answer these and you get my reward

i thought that was weird too, maybe i should check the voltage at the sensor itself instead on the VAFC. No CEL, thats weird

Re: (akumaracer)
check the idle air controller (IAC) on the back of the manifold. swap it with the b16 one or one of your friends real quick. all bseries should fit but dseries wont on bseries.
