Ok i have a 98 honda civic DX hatchback well i am serious in buying a motor i started deciding between getting into a Type R ITr Motor or going K Series (got into accident guy is getting sued). I kno If go K series its gonna eat up all my money and Type R is my Best Shot For now till so i could be chillen and have my car built for racing. Well I was going to Get the Motor for about 3750 with everything. Wondering if i was to do this i would have to buy new mounts right.? also the wiring harness... I kno it isnt exactly like my 1.5 liter and my gauges will i have to have mod it if so how? juss asking questions before i go and pay someone.

ok dude as for what motor to get, that all depends on you. Going with the type r to me would be your best bet. As for what you need for the type r swap, you will need to get all of the 99-00 civc si mounts. This makes the swap a lot easier then trying to find single cam ones that match up. As for the wiring harness, when we put my friends jdm b16 into his 97 hatch, we used a 96-98 civic ex harness. From there on it was all plug and play. If u are getting an ecu with the swap u will not be able to use it unless its a obd2a ecu and then if not you can use a obd1 p28 with a obd2a-obd1 jumper harness. Using the ex harness you will not have to wire up vtec. So hope that helps you.

You dont need to change the gauges, my friend had a type r swap in civic and he used the stock gagues. I also did a b16 swap in my civic and everything worked. But if you wana change the cluster then you should get the SI cluster.
