Okay heres the deal.. my sis got a 98 hatch auto, she told me the car recently been acting up.. when it comes to a complete stop for a red light.. green light comes she hit da gas with normal strength.. the car stutters and shakes for a bit, then its fine.. every stop it does the same thing, but when its in driving motion its okay.. we took the car to the shop, they told me its the tranny, any ideas?

Yes, I do have ideas. It could be <gasp> the transmission. Or it could be a number of other things. Who knows. How are we supossed to diagnose your car troubles with that vauge description of the problem.

I'm just posting the information my sis gave me, and the CEL light is on too, so it might be the tranny, fixing price is $1800!!!

Mine was doing the same thing, and mine is an manual lol. Anyway, I bought a neew distributor cap, and advanced the timing a tad and it stopped. Might wanna try this before a $1800 tranny job. Good luck!

Check the CEL. Theres a big thread at the top of the forum that tells you how. The only way your tranny could be throwing a CEL is if the VSS is acting up.
