Stuck in 2nd gear....
I just swapped a Y8 tranny in my car two months ago. Well I was trying to get on the interstate and I was slamin gears, and once I went to shift into 3rd it didn't want to go so I figured I'd just let off and take it easy... Well I tried shifting it again and it won't go into any gear its just stuck NEUTRAL (but really 2nd), and once I turn the car off it will I can go through my gears 1st - reverse BUT not 2nd!!! WTF?!
Thanx for ANY input!
btw, its a stock d16z6 turbo, with a Y8 transmission....

Good going, you broke your transmission.
Needs to be either replaced or rebuilt
"slamming" gears will bring that sort of thing upon you

dang.... Well I wasn't really SLAMMING gears, but I was taking them out to about 6500 rpms... Well if it turns out this transmission is shot I guess i'm de-boosting it and putting EVERYTHING back to OEM.
Damn and I thought Y8 transmission were strong....

Just find a d series trans and replace your forks synchros and bearings you'll be fine the transmission is strong but selector forks are not.

true that, but I thought thought the reason why everyone (including myself) would upgrade to the Y8 is because of the STEEL fork instead of the aluminum fork in the Z6.

Its actually the other way around i believe, the Z6's are supposedly much more reliable than the Y8 ones are.
BTW, why would you thing to 'de-boost' your car and 'return it to OEM'?
Get a Z6 tranny, or rebuild the y8, dont waste any time taking the turbo off, thats not the problem, your transmission is.
Drive it like a normal car, and you can expect a normal lifespan out of your next tranny.

tranny.</TD></TR></TABLE> Because this will soon to be my 3rd tranny in the car since I boosted it (3 months ago) I'm just going to turn it back to OEM stock specs, makes it clean as fukkk AND I smell k-series in the future.
