Default the story of the 94cx hatch, the p28 and the 2001 gsr motor....come, and live the adventrure!

Good Morning my fellow HT citizens…..

I am currently working on my new project “3LMoco” since “3lRedSkoolingbus” was sold and then brutally murdered at the hands of an uninsured clown.

The Car: 94 CX
The Motor: 2001 GSR
Motor Wire harness: 2001 GSR
Sub Harness (from passenger shock tower to ecu): 94 CX
ECU: OBD-I P28 Mugen Spec

So starting things off all the plugs at the shock towers plugged right in, but since mine does not come with vtec prewired in ……
I know for a fact that I have to physically wire in the “Vtec Pressure switch” which requires two wires one, to pin_ and one to ground. Also I know I have to wire in the “vtec Solenoid” to pin _
Im still debating on if I should just buy any subharness w/vtec already wired in cuz if I have to wire in some more junk I might as well just save me the money.

What I don’t know is what do I do about my secondary butterflies? Do those come on just with vacuum pressure or do I or can I even wire it in to a P28 ecu? And what and where do I do it?
Or do I need to buy a OBD-IP72 to active the secondaires?

And please don’t say “just get a SKUNK2 Manifold and get it over with y0!” cuz I want to keep my gsr mani.

Thanks, And I theres anything else I need to wire in please let me know…

And heres the pic that lured you in…..RSB…RIP she will be missed

I believe the butterflies comes on via rpm and it uses the actuator to actually open the butterflies but u can run them on a p28, i think it has to be chipped a certain way though. I am not sure

i think he's right about the chipping part. the secondary butterflies opens up after a certain rpm..good luck

The butterflies can be operated via an RPM activated switch (if you don't want to replace your p28). I have heard many people talk about using the p28 to do this, but I have never heard anybody say they did it, or how to do it, so this may just be a myth. Your p28 doesn't look for the knock sensor, but if you add a p72, you will need to run the knock. Make sure you use sheilded wire for every section. If not, your knock sensor could detect false knock from EM interference & retard your timing. Sheided wire is regular wire w/ a fine wire jacket that must be attached to grounding system. This captures EM poloution from your ignition system, and returns it to the battery. If your not sure where to hook up the shielding straps, consult your helms...

The "subharness" is actually your main harness. It also runs all up through the dash. Its not a small task to swap it out. You'll definitely be better off just adding the few wires you need. Besides, if you do end up wiring in the knock sensor and IAB(butterflies), you'd have to add wires for it anyway, since no '92-'95 civic harness has them.

you can do a one wire set up since you are running a chipped p28.

You don't have to worry about the knock as stated above. You don't have to worry about the pressure switch since you can bypass that by splicing D6 to your A4 wire right by the ECU.

Cut D6 completely and tap that onto A4. (Don't cut A4 off, just expose a bit of the wire and solder)

as for the secondaries, I have never heard of anyone making that work with a chipped p28.

Yeah so that means that the p28 got chipped to a p72...

From what i found out and from reading on HT you can chip a p28 to run the seccondaires but i guess its expensive and your better off just buying a p72, then just running the wires for the knock and IAB....

Like i said I just bought a BLOX and sticking with my mugen program P28 That way i dont have to worry about running mo wires....

No no, you can run everything just fine with a P28, the only thing you lose is the knock sensor, because the P28 does not have a knock sensor board in place. The P28 will use all the stock pinouts from the OBD1 computer to run the GS-R, just like a P72 would.

http://www.allmotorhonda.com/t...g.htm

Just hook up the wires to the indicated pins. If the Mugen chip is a P72 program, which I would expect, it should work fine. Elsewise, let me know and I will burn you a P72 chip with the knock sensor disabled to avoid CEL.
