Stock VS ARP Studs/bolts question. Searched
I have ARP headstuds for d16z6, used for a d16a6/d16z6 minime. Now i ahve a d16y8/D16z6 and the studs are too long. Im going to order new ones.
BUT... i need my car running asap, and this is the only thing stopping me from dropping the motor. Should I resue my stock bolts and break in the motor for a week until the ARP studs come??
I know i should not do that, but do you guys think its safe in terms of breaking in motor for about 5-7 days?
And when I do change the bolts out for the studs, do i need to change Headgaskets? or should i just remove bolt/ install studs?
Give me some feedback, share some past experience, and help me out with some advice.
(I know I should not be retorque oem head bolts anyway, anyhow the point I'm stressing right now is that I'm only going to use it for a week. AND I have resued OEM bolts before, lasted for almost 8 months with massize detonation. (Then i swapped out for a new motor).

I'm running a motor with head bolts reused 3 times, and a reused head gasket. The head bolts should be ok, but if you put more than a few miles on the head gasket, it'll be toast.

It will be toast with just a few miles? But you reused it? and its ok?
Well i just thought of something:
Can i just take out one stock bolt)
Replace it with a ARP stud
Torque it down to spec.
Then take out a next bolt.
Replace that one with the stud.
Toqure.
and repeat for all 10?? (In sequence of course.)
I'm just trying to be cheap and save me a few bucks and trouble of taking the head off the block.. is the risk big enough to just say fudge it, and pull the head and replace headgasket?
