sterio problems
we jsut put a new head unit in my friends. 98 civic ex coup. and we used the connection harness deal that you can buy from frys electronics. so it made the wiring really easy but of course no work can ever be done without problems soo. there was a green harnes inside that connected to her stock sterio. i have no idea where to plug this thing in now. so we didnt. and now her power door switch on her side wont lock the other door, her keyless entry doesnt work, and she used to have a small flashing red light that was a security deal i guess. yeah none of that works anymore. so i guess im just asking from those of you who have done this whats wrong and how do i fix it. as of now its just an inconvenience but it is a major one for her so i need to fix it tomarow at the latest. thanx

Re: sterio problems (HondaKPX)
there was some thread on here that said something to the effect of needing the stock stereo in order for that **** to work... can't remember if there was a work around. Sorry I don't have much more info than that. Maybe put the stocker back in until you figure out what needs to be done... Search for the thread, it may have more insight than i'm giving you here... Good luck!

Re: sterio problems (HondaKPX)
If you've ever looked at instructions on installing a CD changer into a Civic with keyless entry or anything, they talk about a 16-pin gray harness and that green harness you left unplugged. The green harness, the instructions say, is for the keyless remote entry system. So that will explain why the keyless entry no longer works. Not sure how to fix it, though, except by reinstalling the OEM radio. That would be a wasted solution, though. But just some info on what that harness is. . . .

Re: sterio problems (HondaKPX)
Apparently, there are only two solutions--remove the OEM keyless entry system and replace it with an aftermarket one or keep the stock radio but remove most of its exterior panels and stuff it back into the dash behind the aftermarket head unit to hide it out of view. Or you can simply relocate it somewhere, I suppose. But doing the latter solution will allow you to still use the Honda keyless entry remote. Here's a thread I found. Searching is a good thing on H-T. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=309660
