Start but dies after start
It cranks a couple of times then starts and dies quickly after unless I hold the gas pedal in a little. It shakes when I am holding the pedal down.
I have a b16 with a str tb, I know it is an air problem but I have double checked everything and I am stuck.

My map sensor could not get an accurate reading from the tb so I moved a line from the cruise control as a source.

Make sure you didnt get the map and the TPS plugs backwards. Very easy to do. Would also suggest checking the IAC to see if its pluged up.

Re: (MichaelJComputer)
Update. I had a fucked up distributor with was creating a knocking/squeaking sound. I replaced the distributor with a new one and knocking/squeaking sounds goes away. I am still having problems with my idle. Like I said before I can not keep the car on unless I give it gas. Also I triple checked to make sure I was in proper firing order. Map and tps or not reversed.

Is it possible that you could post pictures of what your plugs look like, because if you can do that I may be able to assist you more from that point.
Also I used to have this problem with my cx. Does it seem to run rough?
I would check your PCV valve, that caused mine to die out at idle all the time and I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor and fuel filter before I found the real problem.

Re: (2trix)
I never got a single code for the PCV. The way I figured it was that was by a very expesive process of elimination, and in the end it ended up being a $1 part. Figures.
When I pulled the PCV (which was a complete bitch by the way because I did not remove the IM) the valve was completely seized. I blew compressed air through it and it took a few minutes to break it loose.

Re: (Jdmbsixteen)
I will post pics of the plugs in the morning. I bought the distirbutor brand new. (i.e. Rotor, cap, ingniter everything brand new). Someone said that I might have jumped a tooth. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated.

Re: (Jdmbsixteen)
did the problem start happening without warning? i guess it could be a jumped tooth or two.
if you jumped a tooth on the timing belt, you can just remove the valve cover and set the motor to TDC, #1 cylinder. Check the cam gear markings and crank pulley TDC mark vs. the pointer. It takes about 2 seconds to see if you're off a tooth on the intake or exhaust cam.
Just use that part of the timing belt change procedure to check for TDC. or do a search.

Re: Start but dies after start (5thgenjon)
Update: I got the car running and it turns out the reason my idle was so fucked up was that I jumped a tooth. I read alot of posts saying that when they jumped a tooth their car idled like ****. I would have never thought to check this without you guys. Thanks alot guys.
