SS shifter question (including shift linkage question)
okay so i have a friend with a 98 civic,...he has a LS motor,..he wants to get a short shifter for his car,..but he doesnt know if the guy that installed the motor used a integra shift linkage or civic shift linkage,...so he doesnt know which SS he should get for his car,..a civic one or integra one,...how can i tell which linkage he has? and is a civic one and integra one interchangeable?

Re: SS shifter question (WiDeBoDyEK)
I am pretty sure they are interchangeable, but just save money and do what I did, just take the stock shifter and have them cut and weld it togther. Let me know if you want so more details.

what is the purpose of this? this will only make the height of the shifter shorter,..it will not make the throws shorter,..a Short shifter is made to make throws shorter not make the actual height of the shifter shorter

It doesn't matter you can use either one. In my EG I used an Integra shifter with the stock linkage, and now with my 00 Si I use one from an Integra, both were double bend

Actually if you cut right under the shifter joint/ball and cut about 3/4" above the ball and weld it upside down so that the 3/4" piece cut is now between the shifter bearing and the joint/ball. You now have a short shifter that not only shortens the shifter length, but also shortens the throw between gears. And it only cost me $5 at a local muffler shop to cut and weld!
