Default spring rating?

can someone explain the spring rating i have? i have a 2000 civic si and i have the neuspeed race spring. i think its rated at 485F/395R, stock is rated at 201F/99R. i had it for about 3 years now and i am still riding on stock shocks. i dont understand the spring rate..is it the higher it is, the stiffer it is? i notice that the neuspeed race spring is higher then most of the springs out. also i am thinking gettting some new shocks soon, should i keep the springs? or buy a full coilover like tein? if i stay with the neuspeed, which shocks are good to match it? koni?

Get coilover sleeves w/ adjustable shocks. You'll thank yourself later.

The spring rate is given in lb-in. This is the rate of compression of the spring based on the load. So, 600 lb-in means that the spring will compress 1 inch for every 600 lbs of load it has on it. Higher springrate = stiffer spring.

I would get the Neuspeed/Koni yellows. They're slightly shorter than the OTS Konis, allowing you to lower your car more w/o bottoming out as much, and they're only about $60 more expensive for the set.

yea, i was kinda thinking about either full coilover or sleeve coilover with shocks. the neuspeed is starting to get to me sometimes because it is 2 1/4 and i do a lot of daily driving.
