Spring rates?
I always read people talking about their spring rates. Some are lilke up in the 600s even 800s and some are down at like 450s. What do these numbers mean and how do they effect the ride quality. Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but just trying to learn something new.

Re: Spring rates? (Hatchcrap Ownz J0o)
To put it simple for drivability- the higher the spring rate in pounds, the stiffer the spring and more road you will feel. I have 400/500 lb rates on my GC's and it is fine on the street. And thats with stock shocks. Some spring rate set-ups for front and rear will vary depending on what type of racing you do, sway bar set-ups, type of shocks you are running etc.... I'm sure someone can elaborate more (I have to go to work) so bump!

ill phill did a good job of explaining this. Basically, the numbers are in lbs./in. (or kg./mm. if it's JDM), and all they do is just tell you the stiffness of the spring. Stiffer springs = stiffer ride, but better handling.

Re: Spring rates? (delsolguy)
just a note
a 450lb spring, will take 450lbs of pressure to compress one inch.
so if you have a hella stiff 1000lb spring on your car, and your car is really light,
it wont put enough pressure to compress the spring when you hit a bump, so all that force will go into your but. resulting in a harsh ride

Speaking of springs....anyone got any ERS springs they'd sell? I'm just looking for taller springs 350 and 350 lbs/in for DC2. Preferably 9 in. springs. Right now, I have 7 and 8 in. springs and I hate having to put them back in place after raising the car and lowering it again.
I have some skunk2 springs at 500/400 rate for a DC2 if anyone's interested.

Re: (B18CBungy)
Would the ITR spring rate on a B18 EG hatch handle good on the street? I was thinking of getting the Tein RAs. I want my car to handle like it's on rails and I don't want it bouncing all over the road.
