Spinning Ball Joint
Lower ball joint on the LCA is spinning when I turn the castle nut to take it off. How the hell do you get it to stop spinning?
I've tried jacking it up and that doesn't do anything! Any help would be good right now!

i'm assuming by jacking it up you meant jacking up the LCA to put pressure on the ball joint and hold it still?if so,and that didn't work, try an impact wrench on it if you have access to one.i've had a few where this is the only way to get them off.

Re: Spinning Ball Joint (B18CFyghterCivic)
try putting pressure on the UCA..like pressing down on it with one hand while wrenching with the other.
this worked for me with some patients
edit: this advice isnt worth anything, i for some reason thought you were asking about the upper ball joint

when this happens to me i use vise grips to clamp down on the lca and ball joint, it puts pressure on the ball joint so u can unscrew the castle nut

Re: Spinning Ball Joint (Donkey85)
this might not be the best solution but it worked for me in the past..
if you have a dremel, take a cutting wheel and carefully cut a slit into the ball joint stud. Make it just wide enough so you can fit a flat head screwdriver in there to hold it. it sounds messy, but like i said it worked.

Re: Spinning Ball Joint (Dan GSR)
Yea, the counter pin is out, I wish it was that easy!
I think I'm gonna try vice grips to put pressure on the ball joint first. Thanks for all the help!
If anyone else has any ideas please share them! I need all the help I can get!

Whatever route you take, make sure to try and not mess up the threads. It sucks once you've damaged the threads because then you either need to rethread it or try and dremel off the bad threads in hopes of being able to use the ball joint still (I speak from experience). Also, I have found the easiest way to take the castle nuts on/off is with an impact wrench. Do you have any friends that might have a portable electric one that you could borrow?
