Default Lower Ball joint castle nut

Okay I am having trouble removing the nut that is holding on the the lower ball joint, I took the cotter pin out and I guess it was tightened before and when I try to turn it the entire ball joint turns also. anyone have any advice?

Try putting pressure on the joint by placing a jack under the control arm. Otherwise, carefully grab the stud with a vice grips, but you'll probably end up trashing it.

Jack up the entire hub assembly. It'll put pressure on the ball joint and you should be able to break it free.
