Nope ^ only thing that would dictate that is what package you have option wise
day time running lights, kph instead of mph....what are you looking for as far as an answer ? the Si for us on the 96-00 civic is the us EX and the Si is our SiR.

Re: Specs of Canadian Model Civic
I was searching Craigslist and read a few posts saying the Canadian Model is the lightest Civic. Good hearing the answer from a Canadian

Ej1: ex coupe, power windows, power locks, power steering, color matched mirrors, sunroof, some have abs
Ej2: dx coupe, no power windows, no power locks, no power steering, black side mirrors, no sunroof
well this is for USDM eg but as far as I know DX in general is light

Re: Specs of Canadian Model Civic
You my friend most likely have a DX model then, as nobody in their right mind swaps from disk to drum. If you read the VIN on the dashboard you still see if its an EJ1 or EJ2, the EJ2 (dx) is the base model and the EJ1 (ex/si) is the full model with a d16z6 vtec engine and powered equipment. I'm also pretty sure that the Canadian EJ1 came with an upgraded sound system, that is identifiable by tweeters (acoustic 'something') on the corner of the doors.

I can't confirm that, but it sounds about right. Most civics of that era sold in North America were built in Alliston Ontario.

I can't figure out where I learned that but while trying to understand the vin, I learned that. All non vtec usdm models were built in Japan. I currently own a 1994 civic vx with the sticker on the radiator support that states Made in Canada.

Re: Specs of Canadian Model Civic
That's definitely not true. Some North American sedans were built in Japan, but that's it. EH9s were built in Ohio IIRC. Hatchbacks were all made in Alliston Ontario and Ohio. Coupes were only built in Alliston from what I recall, possibly Ohio as well, but there was no Japanese production on them at all, even for the Japanese market they were imported from North America.

Re: Specs of Canadian Model Civic
Hatches were all made in Canada. Coupes seem to be a mix between USA and Canada, but I haven't investigated the pattern, if any. Sedans were from Japan, though possibly the EH9 was made in USA. EH9s in other markets (EDM) were made in Japan, though. I actually have some USA dealer material from the day that talks about where the vehicles were mfr'd. Haven't read it thoroughly but obviously Honda wanted to be seen to be employing North Americans.

Nope. We didn't get rear discs either Other than '94 - '95 EJ1s with ABS got rear discs in both countries.

As a blanket statement, no. The EJ1 is lighter because the Canadian models don't have power windows and locks. The DX is lighter due to the lack of airbags. CXs are probably a wash, no airbags, but larger gas tank.
