Default D15B7 block, PM3-7 head. Which dizzy?

I have a 94 honda civic with the original block (D15B7) but, for some reason, with the head from a 88 honda RT (don't ask, was not my idea). the original dizzy (TD-42U) got slapped on the PM3-7 head, and it runs fine, but the bolts dont line up at all and the dizzy is holding on with one bolt just on the edge.

So My question is will the TD-02U dizzy work with the 94 ECU, or would it be possible/affordable to get a custom bracket made for the TD-42U. Are there any options here i'm not thinking of?

I dont know if any of these pics help, but i figured they cant hurt.

Thanks

TD-42U I believe is for the 92-95 D-Series VTEC engine and this would explain why it doesn't bolt to your head correctly. All 88-95 SOHC 16 valve non VTEC heads come from the same casting, PM3-"X" so it really doesn't matter which one you have. The difference is mainly in the camshaft and possibly valve springs depending on the year.

Thanks for your reply.

now, according to this post my car originally came with the PMS-1 head, and from looking at rockauto the dizzy on my car should be either a TD-42U or, more likely TD-41U (on the original head). I would go to a junk yard to compare, but the next TD-01U is 150 miles away, so i want to make sure i dont drive there for nothing, if i can avoid it. of couse, even if the TD-01U has the corect bold pattern I would not know if it will play nice with my ECU.

Thanks again.

I just looked at rockauto and saw the listing for the TD-42U and you failed to notice the trim level indicated...

Let's simplify this. I can see the head you have. Forget all the head code stuff. You need a distributor for a 92-95 LX/DX/CX non VTEC engine IF you are all stock otherwise. For peace of mind you should verify you have a P06 ECU.

well after giving it a bit more thought i have decided to go get a grinder to try and make the TD-42U i have work, since i'm not having major problems with it. hopefully with a new gasket and more bolts it will not leak oil anymore.
thanks for your help 24ten

No problem. Best advice I could give for going that route is go to home depot (or similar) and get creative with some sheet stock (think of a way to, in a sense, clamp the distributor down using the existing bolt locations on the head). Or maybe cut the slot on the legs of the distributor to give you more room to play with. I believe there's just enough room to almost get two legs bolted down if you are really careful. It's really sketchy but if it's your only option then you do what you gotta do.
