spare engine - rebuild questions
Just got a spare d15z1 that i plan on rebuilding. It was a complete swap. So i have whole engine, tranny, intake.
Has 160k miles on it. Guy said it worked fine; he wanted a faster engine.
What would you guys do? I'm sure I could just throw this in my car and it would work, but I should check and replace stuff. Should I get a master rebuild kit and send the head off the a machine shop? Never did a rebuild before So kinda looking on where to start.
I am in no hurry to get this rebuilt, but don't want to throw money into parts i don't need. I would guess the least I should do is head gasket, timing belt, water pump.

Re: spare engine - rebuild questions
thanks noz
decided to go through the whole thing. So far everything is flat and within spec. But going to change out most everything so I can put a million more miles on it.
