Default Sound like a good trade???

I talked to a guy the other day who wants to trade me a b16 that is in peices for my d16. He said a straight trade, doesnt sound right. Claims the b16 blew a timing chain but it didnt do any damage and claims the motor runs good. Does this sound fishy to anyone else or is it me being paranoid?? Whats some precuations i should take before makin the trade, or should the trade be made?? please help??

Breaking timing belt could very possibly mean bent valves and more. I wouldn't do it, no one would trade a perfect B16 for a D16.

You said the motor is in pieces, make sure everything is there. He said the timing belt snapped, so make sure there are no bent valves, rods, or any damage to the block and head.

i don't know there is a very very very very very good chance that it has a few bent valves if the head is pulled off look at the pistons and see if you see any indintations where the valves hit the pistions because there will be some if it happened.

only trade if u can go see the motor and inspect it to see the actual condition, and make sure there is no major damage.

how does he know it didnt do any damage, you cant even start the motor if the timing belt is broke.therefore you dont know whats been broken inside there...also why wouldnt he just fix the timing belt rather than swap in and out motors???

on the other hand its a b16 and the head alone is worth more than a whole d16.

id go for it. whats the worst case? some bent valves?
