Someone please help me with D15b
Whats good everyone.
I am in need of some serious help when it comes to my D15b. Where to begin. First I have a 1994 Honda Civic Hatchback VX that had a D15z1 inside that I swapped out for a D15b. At first I thought I was a regualr D15b but after reading the D15b Vtec FAQ I found out I have/had a
D15b Stage 3 Vtec motor. Now the reason I said had is because when my friend first saw the dual vtec solenoids he said it wasnt needed and I put my old D15z1 solenoid on there. But after reading the D15b Vtec FAQ i have come to find out that I need to dual soienoid inorder for my motor to work correctly. Also I took off the Intake Manifold that the came on the original D15b Stage 3 vtec motor and swapped on a regular y8 maniold. And also the motor didnt come with a dizzy and the shop that help with the swap had a shell laying around and I but the internals from a D16z6 in that shell and now thats on the D15b Stage 3 motor.
Now this is where I need some help. I want to get this motor running right because I am tried of not being able to rev past 5000rpms or no vtec. Now I think from reading the FAQ that this motor is OBD2 correct me if I am wrong. I have a OBD 1 wire harness on there do I need to swap it for a OBD2 or can I use the OBD 1 harness? I know I need the dual vtec solenoids but how do i wire those up? Will my chipped P28 be able to run the motor correctly? Is there a certain dizzy that I need? Can I use the y8 manifold that I have on there or do I need to but back on the stock manifold? ANY HELP WILL BE APPERICATED. I will also post pics up if yall need them.
And one last note. When I try to rev past 5000rpm it sound like metal rubbing together any ideas? And is there anyway to verify other than the dual solenoids that is a Stage 3 Vtec motor?
Thanks for all your help.

Get the proper ECU. You should reinstall the 3 stage stuff and source a P2J ECU.
And stop listening to stupid friends. "It wasn't needed." Like it was leftover and they stuck it on there from the factory. Jeez.

D15B motors swapped into VX chassis....that's a typical problem, even with the correct P06 ECU. It has something to do with the wiring at the ECU.

Re: Someone please help me with D15b
Question couldn't I just get a USDM D16z6 or Y8 head and put that on the block that I have? That would eliminate the hassle of having to go through everything to get the 2 stage vtec working.
