Default Some proportioning valve clarifications...

Guys,
I searched and most of the threads I found were a bit confusing and went back and forth about EX/Si/CX/DX brake setups and prop valves.

I have a '93 CX. I already upgraded the front brakes to LS ones. I just picked up a full rear brake swap (trailing arms, calipers, rotors, handbrake line etc) from another Integra LS (I believe a '95) so I can replace the drums with it.

The stock prop valve currently on my hatch is the one with lines coming out diagonally (almost like a star) as opposed to the prop valve that was in the donor LS (it almost looked like an "H", it was more squared).

I have two simple questions:
  • How do I find out what prop valve I have (is 40/40 or 40/30 stamped somewhere)?
  • How do I know for sure whether or not I need another prop valve?
Thanks for the clarification!

-Walter

It's stamp on the side. 4040 can easily be found on the Integra DA.

Sound like you currently have this one in your car. Found on the 96-00 Civic.

This is the 4040.

Kaiba,
I appreciate the time you put into helping me out.
I just realized I described my current prop valve very poorly (I got confused).

Here's a picture I took today of the stock prop valve that is in my Hatch:

...and here's a picture of the prop valve on the Integra where I got the rear disc swap from:

I looked at my prop valve today and couldn't see any marking that specified the type.

Any additional info will be greatly appreciated.

yes, the "valve" from the 1995 Integra you have came off a car with ABS brakes. That's more or less a union to connect the pieces of lines instead of controlling how much goes to each. The valve you need comes from either a Civic Si, or an Integra with regular brakes. Either 1990-93 Integras have them or 1994-00s. The Integra MUST be non-ABS equipped...not sure which models that was for DAs, but DCs were RS model only.

I have one sitting on my shelf, ready to mail if you're interested. Asking $35 shipped/paypalled.

PM if interested.

Thanks for the clarification guys.
Yes, now that I look at it again the 2nd pic I posted doesn't look like a valve at all, but more like a "hub" like component.

"NotAJDMFanBoy": Thanks for the offer, let me see if I can find one locally, I'll PM you if I decide to pick yours up.

Regards,

-Walter
