B16A2 w/S4c opinions pls
ok time for everyone to put their two cents in. I recently aquired(legally) a 92 hatch w/ B16A2 S4c swap. The motor was turbo w/ OEM internals. The body is sound but the motor is haggard....Cylinder #1 compression is 60psi and the rest are all around 170psi(within 3 psi of each other). The car doesn't smoke on idle but under load it blows way too much blue! Ex valve on #1 is soo gummed up with deposites its leaking oil into manifold (see pics).
The PCV hose is blowing out alot of smoke...so much that if hooked in to the intake pipe, oil will run down and saturate the bottom of filter.
On the plus side there is no oil leaking outside of the engine( ie gaskets, oil pan, main bearing etc.) and the cylinder walls are in good shape.
So I'm looking for some opinion and experience...should I spend the time in the driveway carport(open side garage) and rebuild her....or should I get a new swap and start over. Its gonna be a B18C5 if new swap is opted for.
Yes i Know there is a big price difference in doing one or the other, I just want to get feed back from the honda-tech community.

you could go through and replace parts to get matching compression numbers, but if i were you, and i were able to replace the motor i would. do you know what HP the motor made under the old owner and with boost?

I just got my b16a2 rebuilt. Had 150k miles and cylinders lost compression and the walls were wavy. Had to get it bored .020" over. Cost like $1500 for just the machine shop charge. I don't know if u are doing the rebuilding or not, but for as much time and money as I've spent, it would have been worth the b18c5 swap.

Yep, '92 - '93 RS/LS/GS if it's an OBD1 ECU. And I have no idea, people do weird things sometimes, open it up though, someone may have chipped it and added the vtec components to the board, it's pretty common to do that now that P28s are getting harder to find.

$1500 for a bore at the machine shop is pretty damn high. I had mine bored .25 over, rods balanced, crank polished and balanced, rings and bearings toleranced and installed, new valve guides installed, 3 angle valve job, new valve springs, retainers, and valves, and the head was pressure checked for cracks and leaks. All that crap for just shy of $1200 after taxes.
If you're talking parts + machine shop - that will be well over 1500
Looks like your motor was reverting your motor oil back into crude oil
