i have a hx 97 civic, some one broke into it, couldnt steal because i had a removable steering wheel and they were screwed, but now my car has hard time excerlerating, each gear has a hard time hitting high rpms, may not be connected to incident but what might cause that

take it to autozone if the check engine light is on, then report back w/ the code if applicable, you might check and see if your spark plug wires are "on" correctly. Hey bud, what kind of suspension and wheel offset do you have going on there?

The alarm will have absolutely no affect on how it runs. Sounds to me like they messed something up when trying to steal it or since you said it was showing a code for distributor coil maybe it went out.

Its hard to guess at problems if you dont know what the cel is. Go get it looked at and post what codes you have.
