trans falls into nuetral
Whats up all I got a 1997 honda civic lx auto trans d16y7 with 131xxx. I have had the car for about a month its bone stock and has ran great and shifted perfect up until yesterday. I was driving my mother in law to work and was on the freeway doing about 55 or 60 when suddenly my rpms jumped and the car was coasting and would not move once I came to a stop. The basicly felt like it was in nuetral. The cel came on and it wouldnt move so I put the car into park then into gear and it still felt like it was in nuetral. So I turned the car off and then on again put it to drive and boom its in gear agian. I started driving and then it came out again.I repeated the process basicly to get off the freeway and so I limped off and got atow home when I got home I noticed the cel was off so I tried driving it out of my driveway and I got maybe 20 feet befor it jumped out of gear. I checked the atf and its overfilled when its off and warm but i dont want to waste the money on new fluid if it aint going to do anything. I have looked everywhere and cannot find something like this that actually has a answer so I jeed some help. I dont know enough about autotrans to dig into it confidently. Anything you got would be great

Pull the code. Assuming you haven't reset the ECU, it should still be stored, even if the light is off. I'm not an automatic guru by any means, but that sounds like either a blown shift mechanism, or a messed up TCU.

That almost sounds like a transmission pump, not allowing enough pressure for the plates to acuate, at least thats what it sounds like from my previous other brand experience
