Default sluggish 1997 civic

i HAVE A 1997 CIVIC LX and it seems very sluggish in the 1000 to 3000 rpm range. I knows its only a 1.6 liter motor, but its very sluggish and has some slight hesitation. has a full tune up with all filters, plugs, plug wires, cap rotor and o2 sensor, and it didnt help any. Ive also seafoamed it to no help. It is not showing any check engine codes either. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, the lower the fuel volume goes, the more the motor has to crank over to start. When full, it cranks immediately, when down to 1/4 tank the motor may have to turn over 5 or six times to fire.

Possibly related?

Any help appreciated.

your motor doesnt have low end power "its a honda" and i wouldnt worry about the start up problem unless it stops starting

I understand its not going to be fast, but I think this may be a bit more than normal. Just looking for a few more things to check is all.

WHo did the tune up? Was it recent? If a shop did it recently take it back and tell them. Thats what shops are for when people can't figure out he problem on thier own. Telling us hesitation is a broad topic, seeing it in person with a test drive would qualify for help.

oK.... The tuneup was done by a honda dealership as part of a swap for a cracked manifold. All Honda parts. Car felt the same before tuneup as after tuneup. It is a 5 speed trans.

Sorry it doesnt qualify for help.

I was only looking to see if anyone else has had this issue and it turned out to be something like a TPS that need adjusting or Sensor that needed cleaning or replacement or something of that nature.

Guess this site is for people sweating out which exhaust header only...

if you have any mechanicly inclined friends with a 96-00 civic and it runs fine, try swapping over parts from theirs to yours.

edit: my car always feels sluggish from 1k-3k...its just because its a honda and they make their power above 4k. I just thought about it and when I drive i usually shift at aout 4500-5000 because thats where the power is
