you might be able to get away with going the next bolt size up( which would probably be standard not metric but it shouldnt be a problem) and retapping the hole for those threads and open up the holes in the cylinder a bit so the new bigger bolt fits through

Re: (schardbody)
so basically just get a bigger bolt and start it and go.. or i have to take the radiator and fan out and drill it out... (only way to get in there) and go with that.. i think it's a 12mm head but what 5/8 bolt? i am not sure... but what would be the size up?...... if u know off ur head.. i could get it out and bring it to autozone.... or lowes or hardware place.......

you will need to use a right angle drill or remove the radiator and fan to drill it (unless you wanna drop the tranny) then get the correct drill bit for the size it will be tapped to. you cant use the bolt to make new threads, you will have to tap them out w/ a thead tap. no clue on the bolt size, but it doesnt really matter.

If you do it right, it shouldn't. What schardbody said is a pretty good way of doing it, but it can't hurt to keep the metal cool while you're drilling it. Just be careful and don't try to go too fast.

helicoil is your first option if it dont work tap to next size up.
it will work fine. go to a machine shop and ask what they would do if you had a stripped out spark plug hole...helicoil. if done right it will be just as good as before.
and when you put it back together use antisieze
do it just like this...

well i dont know who does yours but they must be doing them wrong
i have had 2 alum heads with spark plugs repaired with heli coil...worked great, plus helicoiled other things and didnt have any problems

Re: (schardbody)
i dont think the casting / metal quality are the same ...but we can agree to disagree.
in his case this would be a better first option then drilling and retapping as last resort

I dont know, just from my experience helicoils wouldnt hold in the aluminum, i guess if its been done and works then i just suck. problem i have had w/ it is the helicoil not sticking into the newly tapped threads, and therefore the hole just ends up bigger.
