Default skunk2 shiftknob (dumb question...searched)

ok so first off this is about the best 50 bucks ive spent. Throws are so much cleaner even before i get the short throw.

but my question is, it comes with a nut...whats it for? i have a suspicion it has something to do with the fact that when you screw it on all the way the shift pattern isnt in the right spot, and if you dont screw it down tight it spins around...

anyone know?

You got it right on the money. It is used to make the shift pattern centered. Be careful when screwing down the nut bc it looks like **** if you scratch off the titanium finish

the bushings are the same for a D or B...well not the 'same'. The D is a two piece that hooks to the tranny, whereas the B is a one piece that needs to be pressed in (can be done by hand)

A better solution to the nut is this:

Remove shifter console. Get two neoprene washers at a hardware store, put them on the shifter below the threads. Then put your center console and boot back on. Now your boot stays up, and is adjustable.

Then, get some blue threadlocker (I cannot stress this enough, the red kind is industrial ****, and you'll be hard pressed to find a man strong enough to ever remove your shift **** ...). Put a couple drops on the threads, and smear it around.

Then just keep wrenching (not litterally, but twisting hard with your hand) your shiftknob down and keep wrenching till it's super tight and the pattern is where you want it. Sits lower, you don't have the stupid nut, and your boot sits flush. Woo.
