skunk 2 stage 2 tuner cams knock alot
i have a set of skunk2 camshaft on my ls/vtec with b16 head i also have dual springs and retainers the car idles very nice and smooth i did a compression test lol 240 across the board so i know my valves are good.... the issue im having is that i hear lots of knocking on the head or very loud ticking... im not sure what it is if anyone knows plz let me know

i have no ajustment yet and also i forgot to mention im running rc310 injectors and i have no tune everyone is telling me its because i dont have the proper a/f ratio im using a stock p72 at the moment for my engine break in period..... everything on the inside is new rings main and rod bearings so idk... i know my car is running extremely rich

im gonna get them fixed asap...... i was worried because yesterday the timing jumped 2 teeth so we didnt know what happened because the timing belt was tight so we looked at it as a freak of nature... but when we retimed it and did the compression test and we saw everything was great i could breath a little easier... but what im gonna do is just put the stock injectors in for now and after the break in period ill just get it tuned

im running b16 head skunk2 stage 2 tuner cams skunk 2 intake manifold and throttle body aem cam gears skunk 2 dual springs and retainers rc 310 injectors bottom and arp hed studs... bottom end has acl main and rod bearings b16 pistons with new rings stock rods with arp rod bolts and the rods are shot peened

Do a valve adjustment and check your LMA's.
I have a B18C5 w/ the same cams, supertech springs/retainers and rc310's.
It's pretty damn noisy.

Why would you even think of running it with out a tune on those cams ?. only way i'd do that is to limp it to the shop to get said tune. I have the same cams but im waiting till the "day of"(tune) to put them in then limp it over to the shop.

Prediction: engine will grenade SOON w/an owner of this mentality. Vtec yo. Don't worry about valve adjustment/tune lol. Just keep randomly throwing parts onto it, there's NO science behind internal combustion.

It never ceases to amaze me how few people actually tune after major modification. OEM Hondas run 240cc injectors and a switch to 310cc injectors (without a tune, holding fuel pressure constant) yields a 29% increase in fuel volume...basically it'll run a little bit rich. If this is a new engine build, you may wash out the rings...just as a heads up
As for the cams, you need to adjust valve lash...and i'm not sure about the S2 tuners but you may have to degree the cams. Not all are just 'drop-in'

yea well the thing is when i bought the b16 motor it came with those cams then i decided to build a brand new ls vtec so what i did was just stuff those cams on my new motor cuz i didnt have other cams

ok well you need to remember DO NOT drive it and do anything with it until it gets tuned...those cams are aggressive and you will do damage without a proper tune

being the Tuners have OE primaries, the tune likely isnt all that far off as far as driving. although the injectors are bigger and require a retune and setting the injector latency its not going to effect it THAT much. I do, however, recommend doing the tune because its stupid not to.
also, I find it a bit daunting a valve adjustment was not done prior to starting the engine. what do you expect it to sound like? for all you know, the clearance could be huge making it sound like a damn diesel engine.
