Sinking brake and no pressure at all

Sinking brake and no pressure at all
I just recently swap my pads, and being in an idoitic rush without the right tools I put the caliper back on with the used old back pad and pulled to get the piston back in. The lil rubber boot that attaches to the piston was leaking a little. Well, I forgot to open up the brake master cylinder cap too.
After doing the second side, I noticed there was brake fluid dripping on the floor, leaking out the resevior. Not a problem, because I've seen this before. But now my brakes aren't biting at all anymore. It would have pressure if I had the car off, but with it on, it would sometimes bite and sometimes just sink all the way to the floor. Pretty scary to drive. I would have to pump the brakes to get any pressure from it. When I have if planted on the floor it would eventually bite and pull to the right.
I've bleed the brakes with fresh fluids, check on the side of the piston with the leaking boot and it looks fine, no leak. Does this sound like a master brake cylinder problem? Need help A.S.A.P., I nearly went over curb earlier at over 40mph.

Re: Sinking brake and no pressure at all (SiGSR)
Im not sure but does the one way valve at the brake booster vaccum line have to do with it???? Maybe you have a leak in ur lines, check ur resevior. And did the pads go on correctly, maybe a possiblility

Brake pads are on correct... I think they're idiot proof, you can't fit them in any other way than the way they are suppose to go.
No leaks any where. Check the resevior level again and it's still the same, not one drop of anything from the car. But where is this one-way valve?

Re: Sinking brake and no pressure at all (SiGSR)
if ur car is a older model like a 95 and older, its like a silver metal valve on the rubber line from ur brakebooster to the intake manifold. It controls the amt of pedal feel and keeps the vaccum one way and not going back towards the brake booster. Lets say if your tryin to stop, u press the brake and it feels hard but u have to press it more to stop and more and more. if your car is newer, its internal, like a bump inside the vaccum line. U can't miss the brake booster line, its like the biggest vaccum line goin to the intake manifold

Sometimes it works normally. But most of the times now, it would sink on the first push of the pedal. I would have to pump it to build some pressure, before you can feel the brakes biting.
At a stop light, if I had pump the brakes a few times it would hold it's pressure. And it won't sink. Does this still sound like a MC problem or something else?
- new brake pads/fluid/bled
- no fluid leaks
- no pedal resistance/pressure when brakes is first apply
- pumping it a few times will allow normal braking
- if pre-pumped, pedals do no sink @ stops

if it's a 92-95 civic, get the 15/16th's 91 ex master cylinder.

Did you replace the rotors
If not the pad is not contacting the whole surface of the rotor
Did you break the pads in
These can also be why the pedal feels weak and unresponsive

Re: (Stingray96)
What packthis and stingray96 said are problems, but those won't cause the problems you're having. If there is nothing leaking out any where then its your MC.

Re: (Stingray96)
Rotors are old, but looks fine. Brake pads were partially broken in, I say that because the sinking pedal does not allow me to do 45mph to 0mph hard stops. Can you say one wheel brake pulls. MC cap on good and tight. None of those are the culprit of this problem.
I've narrowed it down to MC as well. Just checking if there could be any other alternatives. Who wants to trade a working stock 96-00 Civic MC for d-series parts?

If it's not leaking and you've bled the system.....

Hmm, possibly but it's been over a week and a half now and the brake fluid level is still the same in the MC resevior. Will take a look at it today.
Reagardless, still looking for a non-abs, 96-00 MC for the dx/lx/cx Civics.
