Text from the site follows. . .
In 1996, American Honda dropped the Si badge and called the top of the line Civic model the EX (127hp SOHC VTEC D16Y8 engine). Honda Canada continued to use the Si badge for the exact same car (127hp SOHC VTEC D16Y8). I would guess that Honda Canada looked at the fact that the '92 to '95 125 horsepower D16Z6 Civic Si coupe was essentailly the same car as the '96 127 horsepower D16Y8 coupe (the engines are almost identical) and decided that the Si badge should stay.
So your telling me, if I drive up to canada in my ex coupe, I could tell those canadians I have a d16y8 si civic? bahahah that roxs. Silly canadians Gotta love um!

Anytime love! Seriously though, Canada got the SI-R in a silver color as well I think.

I might be way wrong here, but I believe we're also the only country on the planet that got the Si-G... you know what that stands for? Sport injection gangsta!
no, actually it just means a group of options. there is also an EX-G.

I don't know what colours the Si-R came in... all I know is that they hold their value hella good. there's an EK Si-R for sale in Winnipeg for like 18K right now. yeesh. talk about a lucky investment back in 1999 or whatever.
So you guys didn't get the Acura ELs or something? those things are very very good looking in real life, a guy at my work had a black one. just looked the shiz. Like the classiest Civic in the world.

Re: Silly Honda of Canada. . . (TecHnOCal)
my avatar's actually a real picture of Hunter S. Thompson taken in the 70s, i'm not totally sure though... still, you get the idea.
EDIT: no, looked at it again, and it's definitely hunter. Not Johnny Depp.
still, a massively good movie.
