Default 99 civic si (canadian)

heyy guys im new to civics pretty much and this site also, i have been on honda civic forum a bit. any ways a few questions i got i know that if i was from the states my car would be an em1, but im not i'm canadian and that makes my car what? i have heard ej6 which has seemed most promising and a bunch of other things. and also i would like to know if my engine is a d16y8 or y7? any help would be great

its an EJ8, in USA it would be an ex, our SiR here is there Si

Theres a flat spot on the block right where the engine meets the transmission. It should say D16Y8. Our Si is the same as the US EX, our SiR is the same as US Si.

i live in canada . . i have an 00 civic SiR. . its an EM1

so isnt yours(being an si) an ej8???

i suppose ya, im not very good with all these codes and such, when i was on that other forum they said if it was american it would be an em1 so i took their word for it, but then i figured i would find out what my car really is

Just check the vin#
Youll learn a lot about your car
chassis code, what motor it had stock, where it was built, everything.

no my VIN in the windsheild and pressed into my firewall says 2hgEM1xxxYxxxxxxx

the 4th 5th and 6th letter will tell you if its an em1 or ej8

the tenth digit shows the vehicle year....

for your generation i gave you a short list of what it could be(used to install windshelds and had to read VIN's to get the years)

t= 96
v=97
w=98
x=99
y=00

i know where you find it on the car but i mean for finding out like where my car was made and **** like that, and ya it says the ej8 and the 10th letter is x so its a 99 for sure
