Default silencer

just got a spec 2 for my eg and its mental loud just wondering if putting the silencer that came with it will cost me to loose power

My guess would be with the build up of back pressure from putting on the silencer it will not loose some power up, but it might restrict a little of the power you have decreasing it.

I'd be willing to bet you didn't gain any power by putting the exhaust on, so putting the silencer on won't hurt.

If you're running a dedicated track car, then leave it out. If you're running a street car and you want it to be quieter, then put it in.

I have the spec2 on my 93 eg w/ b18c w/ the silencer in it. I havn't noticed much of a loss up top, but a good gain in mid-range torque, as measured by the butt dyno. As a side note, seriously man- if you don't put the silencer in you'll need a good set of earplugs and a 'get outa jail free' card for the street.

yeah i tried both ways there yesterday and i cant notice much differnce in it the car is my daily driver not a track car so i drive it a lot

Of course it will. In most cases, the silencers are even more restrictive than the stock exhaust. If you're going to run your aftermarket exhaust with the silencer, you're better off just reinstalling the stock exhaust.

yeah i was told that a lad had his on the dyno with the silencer and then ran it again without it and made ina round 12 bhp more thats why im in two minds as what to do
