should i or should i not buy(b16 sol $1800)?
i was thinking about buying a b16 swapped del sol, the guy is asking 1800 for it. the only problem is that the timing is off by 180 degrees, the vtec wires have not been connected and it needs new lower ball joints(i am not sure on which side). the body is in decent shape, it has a dent on the quarter panel and as a result it started to rust. he said he took of the head to make sure the motor looked fine. i guess when he put the head back on he messed up the timing.he said he didnt want to fix it because if he did he would want to keep the car and he is not in a postion to keep the car. thats the only ting thats stopping me from buying the car because what if the motor it self is bad? i wont get correct compression numbers because the timing is off. the other problem is that i live 4 hours away from the car and if its not what he says it is i am going to waste 8 hours in total.
what questions should i ask him to help make my decision.
what do you guys think, should i get it or should i not get it?

the swap it self is worth 2500 now ask yourself why hes selling the whole car for 1800. i think something has tobe wrong especially since the timing is 180 off and hes not trying to fix it. fixing that problem would help make selling the car alot easier. plus being 180 off could mean he bent some stuff.

if the cam is 180 out then you are going to have bent valves, if it is the dizzy, it doesn't matter on the compression #'s b/c you have to pull the plugs anyway.
i would be leary of that car

i was thinking the cam thing, but he said that he only drove the car one time after the swap because the timing was off.
so i should expect to pay about 500-800 to fix the car?

you cant start that engine with it being 180 degrees off timing, if it was that simple, the guy would of just redo the timing and keep the car.
if the swap was good he could of sold it on craigslist for 1500 and sell the shell for 1000. something is definitely wrong with the car
