Default Short shifter installation

Hey Ya'll

So in the middle of gathering the parts for a manual conversion I buy a shift linkage off ebay. Everything looks great and it even came with a short shifter (aluminum, I know, I know) But here is my question: The shifter has a bearing at the base (where it hooks up with the change lever) but it doesn't fit correctly laterally. Looking at the helms, the stock unit has bushings and 0-rings to make it fit.

From what I can see, the stock unit doesn't have a bearing, its all bushings. What can I use to fill that same purpose on this freaking thing, or should I just buy a B & M (which from what I hear comes with all the hardware needed)

Any thoughts?

Yes, you can press it out and reuse it. I pressed mine out using a socket.

Yeah I get that, but what i'm referring to are the o-rings that are used (or should be used?) on either side of the bearing so that the shifter fits onto the change lever. Dammit, let me find a picture somewhere.

Thanks!

Look at items 24, 12, 4, and 5 in the bottom left corner to get an idea of what i'm talking about

I think I know what you're talking about. You can just pick some up from any hardware store if you are asking about the little rubber rings.

yea i've been eyeing one for a while now. I think I'll do that in the near future. but for the time being I think i'm going to have to figure out a way to make this work. I still have to get the @$%&*@% place racing mount.

McRicerton, I may just do that, but how will that affect the feel of the shift? if at all?

Again, thanks for the lightning fast responses.

My Evasivemotorsports short shifter came with some little rubber rings that I'm using on either side of the shifter. It feels solid. If you want a good solid short shifter, I strongly reccomend the Evasive unit. It cost me something like 35 dollars and it's great.
