Shifting Problem
so yesterday i'm driving along and out of no where i no longer could put it in 5th gear, it like hits a well or something like 5th no longer is there. So i was just like "alright maybe i'll change the fluid when i get home". So i get out of work and i can now put it in 5th gear, its a lil harder then normal but w.e. I go to the gas station and all of a sudden i no longer have 5th or Reverse its like theres no more gears after 4th gear. So i'm changing the fluid right now putting in some 10W-30 (94 Civic LX)
So does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?
(Sorry it was so long but i thought i'd tell the whole story)

Re: Shifting Problem (SR20S13)
Hmm...was there any metal that came out when you changed the fluid? Did you inspect the shift linkage? Have you been slamming the shifter into gear before this happened? Any mechanical noises associated with the problem? How many miles on the trans?
My gut instinct is the change assembly in the trans is broken, but that's a rare thing to have happen.

I've heard it's a lot more common w/d series trannies than with B series. Lucky for you, D series trannies can be found very cheap and are very easy to install.

Re: Shifting Problem (dpaton)
there wasnt full chunks of metal but like what i consider just normal little flakes that happen with a transmission. And its weird it was kinda of milky colored like water got in there idk if thats normal but it wasnt rust colored

Go Tigers!
you got two options, you gotta decide this
1. are you mechanically inclined with a decent amount of free time? if so get a service manual and take it apart
2. just buy a new (used) tranny. They're like 50 bucks for a d-series lx/dx trans.
I'd go with #2 if i were you.
