Re: shifter probs (civic_coupe_585)
Shifter wobble is mostly in the bushings. You can get an energy suspension replacement set for like $13 bucks online. Also the shifter itself has some to do with the looseness. I would look into getting a better short shifter like a Skunk2 and upgrade the bushings. There not too hard to change out. Might take about 30 minutes of your time once the car is high enough to get under. Once you do these things it will feel like a new car.

Re: shifter probs (SeVeNisOnE)
I just did mine this weekend w/ the energy suspension and a random short shifter I had laying around. Took me about 1 1/2 hours considering I didnt know wtf I was doing. But got it back together and shifts like a charm now.

More than likely it's the spring pin and not the bushings that are giving you terrible play in your shifter. By all means, replace the bushings - there's no tradeoff to doing so - but get a new spring pin from the dealer and feel the drastic difference it makes.

Right there at the #28 is an area on the linkage itself that can wear out - check that pivot area for slop, and if those bushings are worn out they cannot be replaced unless you replace the entire shift linkage (#13 in that pic) they're a part of.
I had a guy's 1998 Civic with an LS swap whose linkage itself at that very pivot area was just worn the hell out, and replacing rubber bushings would not have done **** for his problem. Just take a good look at it while you've got the linkages down from the tranny.

Here is more than likely your answer. Bushings will aid but not help much. And a short shifter will do nothing to resolve the issue.

Re: (Malakai)
Also before you do any of that check the actual bolt that goes thru the shifter and shift linkage. If it is loose you will have play in the shifter.
