Default shifter

i have a 94 civic dx coupe with a b16a... and when i go into gear, not matter if the car is off or on, when in gear, u can move the shift left and right about 1"-1.5", its not a big problem with shifting although sometimes its kind of hard to get into gear but not bad at all... im just wondring what could be causing this problem...?

You need to tighten the bolt that goes though the shifter and the linkage.

Then it's your transmission or linkage, my friends shifter just had naturally a lot of play in it, even with the bolt tight. Unbolt the linkage from the tranny and see how crisp the transmission shifts with a screwdriver.
