Default Severe weight reduction?

I checked out J's Racing site and their cars. They've got an CTR and ITR weighing in at 850kg and 860kg, respectively. That's 1875lbs and 1900lbs. Of everything I can think of removing and/or replacing (including suggestions from other ppl and from searching previous weight threads), I still can't see how they'd get the weight down that low. Anyone know how they did this or have suggestions on what could be done to get close to this? Just curious...I got fantasies of a track dedicated car in the future, even money and market aren't permitting. The only things I can think of are as follows (w/o sacrificing safety, so no removing bumper supports and such)...A/C, remove side windows, lexan rear quarter and rear windows, CF hood, lighter suspension, lighter wheels, lighter brakes, sound deadening material, tar, all panelling, dash, spare tire, full titaniun exhaust, and fuel cell...all of this only amounts to about 300-350lbs. Add in the weight of a roll cage and b-series to a 2200lb+ EK chassis and you're only down to about 2000lbs...still not as light as the J's Racing cars. It doesn't look like they have any fancy materials for body panels. .thanks.

I was thinking that they would also, but if you look at their cars, the body itself looks stock, aside from some lips and such. It doesn't look like they replaced any of the original skin. The bumper looks like a stock bumper, etc., and I doubt they'd make, or have made, bumpers that look just like stock but in CF or fiberglass. If they replaced bumpers and such, they'd most likely just get some of the kits already made. They use their own fiberglass lips, but those are only add-ons. The interior, with almost all of it removed and just some gauges, race shell, and steering wheel still wouldn't make up all that weight loss. Still wondering how they did it.

The body of both cars looks pretty stock. It doesn't look like they've replace any of the fenders, doors, trunk, etc. w/ CF. And in my list above, I took into account removing the entire dash and replacing it with something lighter (aluminum or CF) and it still comes up about 100lbs short of what they've been able to remove.

If you take a look at USTCC rules, their min weights for hatches w/ stock motors is about 1500lbs. I don't even see how you could get it that light.

Other stuff that makes a big difference are the bumper supports.
a chromoly cage I believe is half the weight of a mild steel one.
also, no power windows= no motor mechanism.
are they using stock gastank? that makes a big diff as well. if they use a fuel cell

This is what I listed above:

A/C, remove side windows, lexan rear quarter and rear windows, CF hood, lighter suspension, lighter wheels, lighter brakes, sound deadening material, tar, all panelling, dash, spare tire, full titaniun exhaust, and fuel cell...all of this only amounts to about 300-350lbs

So that takes into account the gas tank (fuel cell used instead) and side window weights. Subtract the ~350lbs from a 2200lb EK and you get 1850lbs. A full chromoly cage would still weigh at least 50-75lbs(?) and a b-series is about 75lbs heavier than the D it replaces, so the total would still be about 2000lbs. Would bumper supports make up the 125lb difference? What else is there to remove? Thanks to everyone for their ideas.

honestly, i find it hard to believe.

We have an EG with fiberglass hood, hatch, doors and all lexan windows but the rear. aluminum dash and fuel cell with a mild steel 6point cage. it weighed 1705 without a driver at that point. Of course there were no bumper supports or interior at all.

We have since cut the back of the floor out, replaced the rear glass with lexan, cut the webbing out of the interior and put a solid axel rear end on it. We probably netted another 100 lbs at best.

There is no way an ek with metal doors and real windows weights 1800 lbs. especially considering all of the heavier running gear a road race car is required to carry.
