Default Screeching noise when driving from wheel area

I have a problem coming from what seems to be the front passenger side. It's a screeching noise when driving, and sounds like metal on metal. My initial thought was the rotor rubbing against the brake dust shield (unsure if thats what it's called). I took a prybar and tried bending the dust shield back (this fixed a previous problem I had on the other side), but it hasn't fixed it.

The problem gets loud and quiet off and on, but its always there. It used to go away for a few seconds if I tapped the brake, or occasionally if I turned the wheel a bit. It now seems to be pretty constant regardless of what I do. Please help, it's made my car unbearable to drive (as well as pretty embarrassing when pulling in anywhere). Thanks in advance.

Could this be brake pad indicators?

You probably have a rock stuck in-between the dust shield and rotor. It has happened to me a few times before. Eventually the rock just works itself outa there or it gets grinded down to smitherines.

I know this post is 2 1/2 years old, but this is the only post I could find that is having the same problem I am having with my 2003 CRV. Can you tell me what the problem ended up being? Thanks!

I finally got my car fixed. It was the rear brake pads, they were almost gone. The rear rotors were also warped. I wasn't thinking breaks since I just had them relaced 14 months ago, so I must ride my brakes
