Default RSR/APEXi center exhaust?

I just bought an Apex N1 weld-on muffler for my 94 CX and I wanted to pitch it up and out the right rear like the RSR GT ll. I want it to go straight through the mid of my car but I am concerned about heating my gas up. Since it's going to be really close to the tank will I need some heat tape or sheild of some kind?
Any help is good help. Thanks!

I have a RSR GT II exhuast. and i love it. i left about a 2 inch space in between the tank and the piping. i have not seen any negative effect of the exhaust being that close to the gas tank.

my friend brad(typesi2nv) has a custom exhaust like the rsr gt2 and he has no problems. and might i add its one of the most awesoms sounding exhaust's i have heard. he has a resonator in the piping so i bet the same type without one sounds even better! good luck!
