Rough ride
well, lately ive noticed something going on my with car.
when driving anywhere from 10 - 60 mph my car shakes, like it was a bent wheel, or tires with flat spots.
i know the wheels arent bent and i have only had the tires for a couple months and have done nothing to cause flat spots in them.
70 mph and up my steering wheel vibrates like a mother.
i got a balance done and it didnt help at all.
if you guys have any opinions on what this may be , feel free to post.
note car has 200k on body.

Re: Rough ride (93egsedan)
well, check if ur frame is straight... that could be a major problem.. other than that, it could be a tranny mount thats broken or could be ur tires.. check it all and good luck!

it sounds like they didnt do a good alignment job on your car, if they did one at all. a bad alignment will cause yer car to shake pretty bad at speeds upward of 60 miles an hour ish.

He never mentioned that he had the car aligned recently, what are you guys talking about?
Get the tyres rebalanced, then get the car aligned.

He said that he had already got his tires balanced.
My buddy has an EJ8, his wheel shook pretty bad at freeway speeds. An alignment fixed everything.

If you have not already gotten an alightnment, do that first. Also if you have gotten one done and it still wobbles and vibrates have someone check to see if anything is bent. I got in an accident and got everything repaired (or so I though). Half a year later I got new wheels and tires and wanted an alighnment to make sure I dont have uneven tire wear and they told me they couldnt align it becuase something was bent. I still dont know what is bent but I will get it fixed when I have the money.
Just somehting else to check.

Re: Rough ride (93egsedan)
When you get the alighnment done have them jiggle the tire and rim left to right and up and down. If it has alot of play you might want to get that taken care of too. Are your tires wearing uneaven or feel choppy?

An unbalanced tire will shake like a mother ****** from 60 and up. Also, check to see that your axels are in good shape and if you have a dynamic damper (just '92) then make sure it has not moved. This can also make the car shake because the axle is unbalanced. It's a rubber disc that's around the axle shaft.

That's why I suggested he get them rebalanced.

Re: Rough ride (Reid)
well found something interesting today, and a little confusing.
i decided it was time to rotate my tires, i did this myself (not too hard
anyway, before i rotated them i had a slight pull to the right, hinting alignment problem.
now that i rotated the tires the car pulls, pretty freaking hard left. the shaking is still there and a little worse.
im dumbfounded as to why this dramatic change. if it was an alignment problem, then the car wouldnt change so dramaticly with a rotation dont ya think?

Re: Rough ride (93egsedan)
When you take it for the alignment have the tech who is doing it check out the car. He has to drive it before and after anyway you might as well have him at least tell you what the problem is.

unemployed so unfortunatly cant get alignment yet.
how can it be an alignment problem when it changes direction after a rotation tho.

ive put in applications everywhere, ive been lookin for months now. oh well,
i jsut check tire pressure, they were all aroun 40. in the glove box it says 32 for front and rear, dropped it to that and alot of the bumpiness went away. and here is something interesting. took a really hard right turn at pretty good speed, and now it hardly pulls at all.
what could that mean

Yes the lower tire pressure definately should have helped. As for taking the hard right and having it get better I would say that something is definately loose. And I am almost willing to bet that your alingment angles are out of spec.

It is definitely a tire or wheel problem. Try to isolate which tire/wheel is causing the problem by rotating two at a time.

I didn't even see this. on me for not using my eyes.
This would have to be a tire or wheel problem. I don't see anything other than that causing this.

i noticed something today as well
pic not from my car, got it online
anyway, the piece we are talking about is circled in RED, what is that, reason i ask is because on both passenger and driver side, the part in yellow, whatever that connects to is cracked. could that have anything to do with this, and what is it and how bad would a crack affect it. big crack i might add, if i had my own digi cam i would take a shot of it
EDIT im sorry, its the piece on the other side of the piece in yellow, i just realized this pic was passenger side, anyway its the part of that v thing that is facing the front of the car
edit again, the part that is cracked is rubber
