I have a 92 civic with stock d15 motor. the car hasnt been started in 5 years so i decided to remove all the old gas and put new ones. then the car was having issue's starting so i decided to replace the fuel pump. afterwards it helped the car to start but then it has a rough idling problem. checked the spark plugs and they we're shot black!. what does this mean?? any suggestions would be helpful. thank you for your responses!

Start by replacing the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor and checking the ignition timing. Any CEL codes?

yes. there is CEL codes. but i havent actually got the chance to check that out yet, i dont have a CEL tester and the car cant be driven so iono how i'mma do that, but i could probably take the chance of doing a full tune up as u say and check the timing belt.

Click the CEL sticky at the top. Just jump the service connector with a wire or paper clip and then turn the key to ON(II) to watch the codes blink from the CEL.

thanks a lot bro. that does help. lol i'll give it a try tomorrow.. another question, my friend was telling me that it might be caused by fuel injectors, could that be another possible reason for this? my friend said that my spark plugs are probably getting burned cuz the car is running too rich, which is caused by the fuel injector's being stuck opened....

Your engine is misfiring or running rich, so first do an ignition system tune up and check the CEL codes. If the problem persists, there are many possible causes for running rich - the CEL codes may help you pinpoint the problem.

You can actually pull the CEL codes first. After writing them down, pull the 7.5A hood Back Up fuse to clear the ECU. After the tune up, run the engine to see whether any of the CEL codes repeat. Post any repeated codes.
